FAQ
Quick answers to a few common questions.
Can I stay for just one or two nights?
Our minimum stay is 3 days, but most guests book 5 or 7 days — and for good reason. Learning to surf is more than standing on a board; it's reading waves, building confidence in the water, and getting comfortable out the back. A longer stay is where the real progress happens, and it's why so many guests come back for two weeks. That said, if 3 days is what you've got, we'll make the most of it.
Do I need surf experience?
No. Shaka welcomes a range of levels, and the surf experience can be adapted depending on where you're at.
What is the minimum age?
Guests must be at least 15 years old. There's no maximum age — everyone's welcome.
Is Shaka ever closed?
Yes. Shaka closes each year from September 1 through November 14. We reopen for Regular Season on November 15.
Is there a returning guest discount?
Yes, during the Regular Season, returning guests receive 10% off with proof of a prior stay.
What if I need help on-site?
Our dedicated team is available around the clock should you need anything during your stay.
Where do I book add-ons?
Add-ons are handled on-site through our concierge — no need to arrange them in advance. Once you're here, they'll get you sorted.
Can I add on to Ultimate Surf?
Yes. Even if you're on Ultimate Surf, you can still book add-ons like the breath holding experience during your stay. Just speak to our on-site concierge when you arrive.
When should I use the Special Requests form?
Use Special Requests if you're booking for a large group, need two beds in one room, have mixed arrival dates when sharing, or if your dates aren't showing as available in the standard booking flow. We'll handle it from there.
What is the cancellation policy?
We offer a full 100% refund if you cancel more than 1 month before arrival, 75% if more than 1 week out, and 50% if less than 1 week out. You can also change your reservation at any time, pending availability, with no fees or loss of money.
