You will learn various aspects of purchasing, owning, and maintaining real estate in Costa Rica as well as legalities, pitfalls, and different property zones. We will also cover in detail the process of acquiring permits and building from the ground up. Shaka has teamed with Tropisphere Realty, the leaders in listings and experience, to show you the largest variety and inventory of properties in the area.

Course includes real estate education and law orientation classes, and a tour of the encompassing towns- Montezuma, Cabuya, Cobano, Mal Pais, Santa Teresa, Playa Hermosa, and Manzanillo. Included is lodging for 6 nights, 3 meals and snacks each day, tours, and a complimentary Wednesday morning group surf lesson with Shaka instructors.
6 Night stay schedule:
Sunday: Arrive at Shaka in the afternoon. Check-in, join us and relax for a welcome happy hour from 5:30-7:00pm in our rancho. Meet our staff and enjoy dinner prepared in our private kitchen.
Get a nice nights rest in our luxury cabinas with private bathroom and hot water.
Monday: Fresh start with some Costa Rica coffee and breakfast from 7:00-8:30. Relax in our rancho to our stereo or take the 3 min stroll to our beautiful Playa Hermosa Beach. Regroup at 10:00 for our 2 hour educational jump start course. We will explain the different aspects of property ownership, purchasing process, legality issues, pitfalls to look out for, guidelines on realistic price ranges, and tips on how to identify deals.
Lunch, further discussion, questions & answers.
2:00 Meet with our expert speaker from Tropisphere realty to answer questions, identify interests, view available listings, talk about where the market is going, and upcoming opportunities.
Dinner
Tuesday: Breakfast 7:30-8:30 Head out at 9:00 on our 6-7 hour guided tour of surrounding areas Manzanillo, Cobano, Montezuma, Cabuya, Mal Pais, Santa Teresa, and Playa Hermosa. You will be briefed on facts about each town, current going prices, unique aspects of individual areas, and view some ongoing and future developments as well as miscellaneous properties for sale. We will make brief stops in various locations, then stop for lunch in Montezuma and enjoy some of the shopping in this neat artsy town. Head back to Shaka for sunset.
Rest, answer questions and organize individual interests.

This is an open day, join our Shaka surf instructors for a complimentary morning group surf lesson from 8:00-9:00, relax on the beach, meet with Tropisphere to view more properties, or for those interested in outside activities our staff can assist you in planning one.

Thursday: Breakfast 7:00-8:00
Regroup in the rancho at 10:00 for 2 hour discussion on the process of building from the ground up. View samples of all the necessary documents and blue prints. We will also cover necessary preparations, forming a corporation, using an architect, acquiring permits, water, electricity, land restrictions, and a basic overview of how the system works in Costa Rica.

Dinner out in the heart of Santa Teresa at one of the local restaurants
Friday: Choose how you would like to spend your last day. Look at more properties, meet with a lawyer, or spend time in your favorite town.

Currently we are only scheduling 1 real estate tour during the last week of each month. We only do small groups minimun 4 persons and max of 8 persons to ensure personalized attention.
