Our main priority at Shaka is to help you immerse into the surf culture. We surf every day, talk about surfing, and live the lifestyle. At the end of the week almost everyone has a comment along the lines of “I can see why you guys love it here so much!” and "I'm
definitely
going to keep on surfing."
Here is a typical day at our camp:
6:30 am Awake and enjoy a fresh light breakfast with world famous Costa Rican coffee to get you started for the day. This is a great time to spot some wildlife passing through our lush jungle corridor such as monkeys, squirrels, iguanas, and various birds.
7:30 am Surf Lessons! Head to the beach for your hands on surf lesson. The 3 minute walk will get you warmed up, and the early start will give you the best wave conditions. We spend ten minutes doing a few surf stretches and evaluating the conditions, currents, and tides, then it's into the water. We have developed an effective progressive teaching system that maximizes surfing success with ocean safety.
11:30 am Lunch by Grettel. Our chef will prepare a delicious lunch for you. She will happily accommodate vegetarians or special diets.
After lunch, the day is yours for exploring the peninsula, participating in any camp organized activities, relaxing on the beach, or surfing.
4:30 pm We gather and head back to the beach for a sunset surf session. You can either free surf with some of the camp staff and instructors, or relax on the beach and enjoy a breathtaking sunset.
7:00 pm Dinner - Our chef will prepare a hearty dinner. Depending on what is freshest, fish, chicken, or pasta may be served. Also, one night during your stay we will take you out for dinner to one of the local restaurants.
After dinner you can enjoy socializing in the rancho to our surround sound system, or relax in a hammock on your cabina terrace. Feel free to run down to the local store to pick up a few Costa Rican goodies.
We also incorporate and include activities such as pizza party night, bonfire on the beach, nature and beach hikes, movie night shown on our projector, and others depending on weather and time of year.
Although surf instruction is the main theme of the camp, there are many other activities to enjoy while vacationing in this amazing country. Here are some of the activities our staff can help arrange if you decide to take a break from surfing and camp activities...
